kralin Terrific immersive listen. I didn't want either piece to end - I often feel this way with Yann Novak's music. I like the intention - calming - that has driven this release. These are such unsettling times. This guy has put loads of his excellent material out there effectively for free so a great chance to say thanks for that, and this, and look after yourself.

<=> *Generally speaking, I love Yann's sound studies on light and applications of... The often results that I hear is a sonic minimalism that is sophisticated and peaceful (for pondering etc.). Careful listening beyond, "its just a drone" is required to discover the subtle and beautiful rewards! Favorite track: Blue.Shift.

about

**Bandcamp Exclusive**

‘Doppler.Shift’ originated as an exhibition at Commonwealth & Council in Los Angeles.  I am releasing it as a Bandcamp exclusive in response to the COVID-19 crisis, both as a way to generate some much-needed income and to hopefully soothe your anxiety. The original exhibition was installed using small speakers with extremely limited low-range, so this is a very light and airy pairing.

Original exhibition text:

Yann Novak customizes the tempo of the corridor leading towards and away from the threshold of Commonwealth & Council. ‘Red.Shift’ and ‘Blue.Shift,’ the two site-specific sound and light works that comprise ‘Doppler.Shift,’ incorporate filtered florescent lights and synthesized sound intermixed with field recording from the exhibition space. The paired compositions create harmonic environmental “tint” that shifts the mood and atmosphere for the passers-by.
